Terms of Service
Last updated: January 2025
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using The Telepathy Center ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use our Service.
These terms apply to all visitors, users, and others who access the Service, whether as anonymous guests or registered account holders.
2. Description of Service
The Telepathy Center provides research-grade tools for exploring consciousness and extrasensory perception (ESP), including:
- ESP training tools using established scientific protocols (Zener cards, precognition tests)
- Statistical analysis of your session results
- Educational content about consciousness research
- Community features for sharing anonymized results
- Optional blockchain timestamping for research integrity
Our tools use cryptographically secure random number generation and follow protocols established by institutions such as SRI International and the Rhine Research Center.
3. User Accounts
Anonymous Use: You may use our tools without creating an account. An anonymous identifier will be stored locally on your device to track your progress.
Registered Accounts: Creating an account allows you to sync your data across devices and access additional features. You are responsible for:
- Maintaining the confidentiality of your password
- All activities that occur under your account
- Notifying us immediately of any unauthorized use
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
4. Research Participation
By using our tools, you consent to your anonymized session data being included in aggregate research analysis. Individual sessions cannot be traced back to you personally.
Your participation contributes to the scientific study of consciousness and extrasensory perception. All research using our data:
- Uses only anonymized, aggregate statistics
- Never identifies individual users
- Follows ethical research guidelines
- May be published in scientific journals or open research platforms
You may opt out of research participation by using offline mode or requesting deletion of your data.
5. Blockchain and Decentralized Science
The Telepathy Center integrates with blockchain technology and decentralized science (DeSci) platforms to ensure research integrity. This means:
- Timestamping: Session data may be cryptographically timestamped on public blockchains to prove when experiments occurred
- Immutability: Once timestamped, data hashes become permanent and cannot be altered
- Open Science: Significant results may be automatically published to open research platforms with DOI identifiers
All blockchain-published data is anonymized and contains no personally identifiable information. The purpose is scientific transparency, not user tracking.
6. Disclaimer of Warranties
Important: The Telepathy Center is provided for research and educational purposes only. Our tools are NOT medical devices, psychological assessments, or diagnostic instruments.
The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to:
- Warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose
- Guarantees of specific results or outcomes
- Claims about the existence or nature of psychic phenomena
- Accuracy of statistical analyses for any specific purpose
We make no claims about the reality of ESP or psychic abilities. Our tools measure statistical deviations from chance—interpretation of these results is left to the user and the broader scientific community.
7. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, The Telepathy Center and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to:
- Loss of data or profits
- Personal or psychological distress
- Decisions made based on session results
- Interruption of service or data loss
Our total liability for any claim arising from your use of the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid to use the Service (which may be zero for free features).
8. User Conduct
You agree not to use the Service to:
- Attempt to manipulate or falsify session results
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service or servers
- Access data belonging to other users
- Use automated scripts or bots without permission
- Violate any applicable laws or regulations
- Harass, abuse, or harm other users
- Misrepresent your identity or affiliation
We reserve the right to investigate and take appropriate action against anyone who violates these provisions, including removing content and terminating accounts.
9. Intellectual Property
The Service and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by The Telepathy Center and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
Your Data: You retain ownership of your session data. By using the Service, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use your anonymized data for research purposes as described in Section 4.
Open Source: Some components of our tools may be released under open-source licenses. Such components are governed by their respective licenses.
10. Termination
We may terminate or suspend your access to the Service immediately, without prior notice or liability, for any reason, including breach of these Terms.
Upon termination:
- Your right to use the Service will immediately cease
- You may request export of your data before termination takes effect
- Provisions that by their nature should survive termination will survive (including ownership, disclaimers, and limitations of liability)
11. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. We will notify users of significant changes by:
- Updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page
- Posting a notice on the homepage for material changes
- Emailing registered users for changes that significantly affect their rights
Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
12. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which The Telepathy Center operates, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of the Service shall be resolved through good-faith negotiation. If negotiation fails, disputes shall be submitted to binding arbitration in accordance with applicable arbitration rules.
13. Contact Information
If you have questions about these Terms of Service, please contact us through our contact page.
For privacy-related inquiries, please see our Privacy Policy.
14. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary so that these Terms shall otherwise remain in full force and effect.
